Mechanical Engineer


 

Mechanical Engineer

Reporting to the Operations Manager, the successful candidate will be a strong team member who gets things done both as an individual contributor and as a team player in all phases of product design and development including cost-effective methods of production for bucket elevators, conveyors, tubular belt conveyors and accessories. Responsibilities will include:

  • Design, develop, and test all aspects of mechanical and structural components, equipment, and machinery using engineering principles, experience and common sense
  • Researches and analyzes data such as test data, customer design proposals, specifications, and manuals to determine feasibility of design or application
  • Directs and coordinates fabrication and installation activities to ensure products and systems conform to engineering design, customer specifications, and existing manufacturing facility and methods
  • Works with other members of Engineering Department and R&D to identify quality and manufacturability issues with new and current machine design
  • Work concurrently on several projects, establish project goals and deadlines, and complete all with minimal supervision
  • Research, analyze, and interpret market, competitor, and customer information to assist in identifying new product or product improvement opportunities

To be considered for this position, this self-motivated candidate will have a successful background in a hands-on production environment and will likely have come out of a smaller vs. larger company where they have had a broad range of experience and have had to "do it all". Other qualifications include:

  • Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • 3-5 years related engineering experience
  • Must be proficient in Solid Modeling utilizing Solidworks, and 2D and 3D AutoCAD
  • Experience in manufacturing operations including MRP, BOM and routings
  • Sheet metal fabrication a plus
  • Knowledge of hydraulics and PTO powered equipment a plus
  • Structural design experience a must
  • Farm background or previous work experience in the agricultural industry is desired

Plant Manager

Plan and coordinate production activities and establish production priorities. Direct all production activities. Oversee all quality and lean initiatives as well as controlling manufacturing capacity (equipment, staffing, and facility) to maintain production and shipping schedules and meet marketing forecasts. Ability to analyze manufacturing costs and suggest process improvements. Effectively communicate with all levels of employees and functions within the company. Proven leadership with a strong belief in the continuous improvement process. Five years management experience in a mfg. environment, preferably in sheet metal fabrication. Excellent interpersonal communication skills with aggressive attitude for continued growth. Working knowledge of an MRP system is required. Excellent benefit package with salary commensurate with experience. Pre-employment drug screen required.
